Dr. Grant received her M.A. and Ph.D. in social ecology from the University of California, Irvine, and her B.A. in psychology and sociology from the University of California, Santa Cruz. She is interested in how social science theories and research help us understand the law and legal processes. Social science research illuminates how and why laws and other public policies are created, how they are interpreted and implemented, and how they differentially impact various groups in society. She is especially interested in how legal decision makers use discretion in the course of their professional duties. She is a co-organizer of Social Justice Week at Sonoma State University.
