Biography

Dr. Reyes earned his Ph.D. in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University. He also holds a J.D. from University of the Philippines Diliman and a B.S. in Psychology from University of Santo Tomas. Prior to pursuing his doctoral degree in Texas, he practiced law as a litigation associate with law offices based in Manila, handling various civil and criminal cases, administrative matters, and public interest cases.  


Dr. Reyes has taught criminology, criminal justice, and law courses since 2007.  His research interests include political white-collar crime, police use-of-force, and state-sponsored extrajudicial killings. He collaborates with various governmental and non-governmental organizations in addressing police use-of-force issues. He also volunteers his time as a faculty rights advocate and union representative on campus.
