Biography
Professor Tosouni, a native of Greece, joined the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice Studies in 2016 and is a proud member of Sonoma State University’s interdisciplinary Feminist Faculty group. She earned her PhD in Criminology, Law and Society at the University of California at Irvine. She also holds a master’s degree in criminal justice from Long Beach State and a law degree from the University of Athens, Greece. Her past experience in the field includes counseling and advocating for victims of family violence. Currently, she serves on the Board of Directors for two local non-profit organizations: Restorative Resources in Santa Rosa and North Bay Performing Arts Association in Penngrove. She is the author of the monograph: Gendered Injustice: Uncovering the Lived Experience of Detained Girls.
